Upcoming Event Details
Seth
Harwood, YOUNG JUNIUS (Tyrus Books, Signed and Numbered Limited Edition
(210 copies) Hardcover, $34.95, Trade Hardcover, $25.00, and Trade
Paperback, $15.00), Saturday, November 13th at 3:00 pm - Join us
in welcoming local author and podcaster Seth Harwood! Seth is the
author of YOUNG JUNIUS (Tyrus Books, 2010) and JACK WAKES UP (2009).
His novels and short stories are available as free audiobooks at
iTunes, and at <http://www.sethharwood.com>,
where readers can also find his blog, fan pages and plenty more. He
currently lives in San Francisco where he teaches English and creative
writing. About the new book, from Seth's website: "Six foot tall,
fourteen-year-old Young Junius sets out to find his brother's killer in
a cluster of Boston's low-income housing towers --prime drug-dealing
territory. After committing a shooting to protect his friend, Junius
finds himself with fifty dollars and instructions to run. Shocked by
the violence he's created and determined to see its consequences, he
stays put."
Jamil Moledina, TEARING THE SKY (Kalyphon Press, Trade Paperback, $14.95), Saturday, November 13th at 5:00 pm -
We're pleased to welcome local author Jamil Moledina as we host a debut
party for his first novel, TEARING THE SKY. Set in the extremely
far future, the story concerns Stanford student Kale Eritrus.
Despite the extraordinary advances that humanity has made (including
mastery over matter and energy,) Kale can't choose a major, obsesses
about solitary hobbies, and fumbles through conversations with the
opposite sex. However, his everyday concerns suddenly pale when he
discovers that civilization is about to be shattered by the final act
of the Big Bang: the Big Crunch. With nothing to hold him back,
Kale takes the two women he can't choose between on an expedition to
find out what's going on. What they uncover on their
galaxies-spanning adventure will fundamentally alter what it means to
be human. Check out the book trailer here, and don't miss the
chance to meet this up-and-coming author! <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVDfhlDR-V0>
SF in SF Presents authors Steven
Boyett and Dale Pendell at the Variety Preview Room in the Hobart
Building, 582 Market Street, Saturday, Novemeber 13th at 7:00 pm -
We are very excited to help SF in SF welcome these authors! Each
author will read a selection from their work, followed by Q&A from
the audience moderated by author Terry Bisson. Authors will
schmooze & sign books after in the lounge. Books available for sale
courtesy of Borderlands Books. Seating is limited, so first come,
first seated. Bar proceeds benefit Variety Childrens Charity -
learn more at <http://www.varietync.org/>.
We REALLY encourage you to take BART into the City, or use MUNI to get
here - parking can be problematic in San Francisco, to say the
least. We are less than one block away from the Montgomery St.
station. Trust us - you don't want to be looking for parking and
be late for the event! Phone (night of event) 415-572-1015.
Questions? Email sfinsfevents@gmail.com.
Borderlands event policy - all events are free of charge. You are
welcome to bring copies of an author's books purchased elsewhere to be
autographed (but we do appreciate it if you purchase something while at
the event). For most events you are welcome to bring as many
books as you wish for autographs. If you are unable to attend the
event we will be happy to have a copy of any of the author's available
books signed or inscribed for you. We can then either hold it
until you can come in to pick it up or we can ship it to you.
Just give us a call or drop us an email. If you live out of town,
you can also ship us books from your collection to be signed.
Call or email for details. This newsletter is distributed monthly free
of charge and may be distributed without charge so long all the following
information is included.
